About Us

• Troop 1916 was established in 2009 and is chartered by Bentwater HOA.

• Troop 1916 participates (at a minimum) in monthly outings and activities that range throughout the Scouting spectrum in order to to foster active particpation and leadership development.

• The Troop regularly particpates in High Adventure Outings such as Philmont, 50 Miler canoe trips, long distance backpacking, rock climbing, snow skiing, zip lining, spellunking, and whitewater rafting.

• Our Troop fully believes and paticpates in a "boy led program".  We have an outsanding group of adult leaders and volunteers that are highly trained and try to maintain a "hands off approach".  We are here to mentor and guide scouts on their "Trail to Eagle".

• On average we have 25-30 active scouts in the troop. These scouts are organized into 3 patrols to maximize particpation and advancement opportunities.  Each patrol is organized from a top-down approach: Each patrol has an even distribution of rank levels so that no one patrol is top/bottom heavy in one particular rank.  This helps to ensure that each patrol has senior/more experienced scouts that can guide and mentor the junior leaders/members of the patrol.  We also have Troop elections every 6 months so that every Scout has an opportunity to be a leader and develop strong leadership skills and abilities.

• Our leadership opportunities and responsibility as the scout grows along with our active participation in outings and high adventure are the hallmark of Troop 1916’s success.  This helps keep our older scouts interested in and active in our program and also provides motivation for the younger scouts.

• Scouting is all about service.  Troop 1916 regularly participates in service projects year-round for our community and the local Cub scouts.
